In a recent Town Hall meeting, Governor Uba Sani’s disclosures regarding the financial state and mismanagement under former Governor Nasir Elrufai have drawn sharp criticism from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State Chapter.
While these revelations hardly surprise us, they merely scratch the surface of deeper issues. We call for full transparency and accountability in addressing these concerns.
PDP has consistently raised alarms regarding the misuse of public funds, illegal land sales, and the unjust termination of qualified teachers in Kaduna State during Nasir Elrufai’s tenure. The recent disclosures validate our longstanding concerns and demand further scrutiny.
We urge Governor Uba Sani to establish a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe the $587 million foreign loans, #85 billion local loans, and #115 billion contractual liabilities left behind by the previous administration.
Additionally, the sale of state-owned land must be thoroughly examined, with perpetrators held accountable for restitution and legal consequences.
The unjust termination of over 27,000 civil servants without proper compensation demands immediate attention.
We propose the establishment of a High-Powered Civil Service Reforms Commission to rectify the injustices inflicted during Elrufai’s tenure and restore integrity to the civil service.
ConclusionThe PDP remains committed to upholding transparency, accountability, and good governance in Kaduna State. We urge Governor Uba Sani to heed our calls for thorough investigations and reforms to ensure a brighter future for all citizens.
