In a strategic move, eight erstwhile chairmen of local government areas in Edo State have made a significant shift back to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming their allegiance to the party and committing to bolster its prospects in the upcoming September 4, 2024, elections.

Reports reveal that the group of defectors, comprising individuals such as John Osi Akhigbe and Hon (Engr) Dr Josie Ogedegbe, convened at the residence of the APC stalwart, Sen Adams Oshiomhole, alongside key party figures including the gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Ry. Hon Dennis Idahosa.

During the gathering, Oshiomhole warmly welcomed the returnees, highlighting their pivotal roles in past governance structures and expressing gratitude for their decision to realign with the APC.

He emphasised the inclusive nature of the party, likening it to a spacious home capable of accommodating all members, both old and new.

In response, Frank Ilaboya, speaking on behalf of the returning leaders, conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to rejoin the APC fold.

He reiterated their commitment to Oshiomhole’s vision and assured unwavering support for the party’s ongoing initiatives, particularly in ensuring a successful electoral outcome.

Through this strategic realignment, the APC in Edo State stands poised to capitalise on strengthened alliances and collective determination, setting the stage for a compelling resurgence in the political landscape.
