Kaduna: Respect Zoning Arrangements Instituted by PDP — Coalition Urges Zimbo

Published

on

The Coalition for Zango Kataf Youths in Politics has appealed to the Council Chairman of Zangon Kataf local government area in Kaduna State, Mr. Francis Sani Zimbo, to respect the zoning arrangement instituted by the People Democratic Party (PDP)in the local government.

The coalition stated its support for the zoning arrangement for the local government chairmanship election in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Comr. John Yohanna, and sent to Elanza News on Tuesday night.

The statement read, “We call on our local government chairman, Hon. Francis Sani Zimbo, to please respect the zoning arrangement instituted by the PDP in the local government. Sir, step down from your ambition for a second term because it goes against the wishes of our people.”

The coalition also warned those campaigning against it to stop, stating that they would not allow any individual’s ambition to divide them and cause political distrust among their people.

John mentioned that those calling for the cancellation of zoning in Zangon Kataf LG Politics are either paid or hired to cause distrust, disunity, and ferment political crisis.

According to him, the need to respect and protect the interests of other sections of their local government cannot be overstated.

Therefore, it is necessary to adhere strictly to the zoning arrangement that has kept them united, peaceful, and harmoniously coexisting for a common interest.

The statement partly read, “We hereby call on the political elite, traditional leaders, religious leaders, women, and youths of our dear local government from the Atyap, Ikulu, Bajju, Kamanton, and the Hausa-Fulani communities to come out and speak against those campaigning against zoning.

“We need to come out and reject those who are against our unity. The desperate politicians who are bent on hijacking our political space must be stopped for the interest of all.

“We are pleased with the performance of our local government Chairman. He served his rotational term excellently. Hon. Sir, we call on you never to allow yourself to be lured by self-centered praise singers into creating in-house enemies that might harm your political fortune and breed distrust among your people.

“As young democrats, we appreciate the brains behind the zoning arrangement. It has brought a lot of achievements in Zangon Kataf LG.

“Any true democrat and lover of peace and unity will passionately and wholeheartedly appreciate this system, support its sustainability, and ensure its continuity. This is because it’s about the people, and the voices of the majority must be respected.

“Finally, we call on PDP stakeholders to tread with caution and ensure that this great initiative is respected. It’s important to reiterate that the PDP is the ruling and acceptable party in Zangon Kataf LG.

“The leadership should not prioritize any individual’s ambition over the collective interests of the people. The party must, as a matter of peace and unity, reject the idea of rejecting the zoning arrangement for the Chairmanship position in the local government.

“We hereby challenge the leadership of the party in the local government to urgently investigate the involvement of the office of the incumbent Chairman of our dear local government and that of the distinguished Senator representing our Senatorial District, Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung, in this matter.

“This is because our findings revealed that some of his closest supporters in the party from the local area are at the forefront of this campaign against zoning in Zangon Kataf and that they have been sponsored to do so to destabilize the arrangement and consequently deny other parts of the local government their right to produce the chairman in the next council elections. This is what we cannot allow, and it must be stopped!”

Nigerians Joining APC Doing So Freely – Presidency

Published

on

In a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, the government reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles. Onanuga insisted that the act of politicians switching allegiance does not equate to a breakdown of democracy. Rather, it is a testament to the freedom of association enshrined within the country’s political framework.

Onanuga explained, “Nigerians joining the APC and pledging loyalty to President Tinubu are doing so freely, motivated by a belief in the positive direction of the reforms underway, intended to benefit both current citizens and future generations.”

The recent defection of prominent figures such as Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, several commissioners, and numerous local government chairmen. Notably, Okowa had served as the vice-presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections, making his switch particularly impactful.

The defection significantly weakened the PDP’s standing, raising questions about the opposition’s ability to effectively challenge the ruling party in the 2027 elections. Meanwhile, internal crises continue to plague other major opposition parties, including the Labour Party and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), leading many political observers to speculate about the future competitiveness of Nigerian politics.

In response to allegations that the ruling APC might be engineering the collapse of opposition forces through coercion, the Presidency was unequivocal in its denial. Onanuga argued that the disorganisation, internal strife, and poor leadership plaguing opposition parties cannot be laid at President Tinubu’s feet.

“It is not the responsibility of President Tinubu or the APC to organise or salvage the opposition,” Onanuga stated. He added that the same critics now crying foul had previously celebrated the defection of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the formation of regional coalitions aimed at unseating Tinubu.

He further questioned why there was no outcry when opposition figures cobbled together anti-APC alliances along regional lines, while every defection to the APC is now painted as evidence of democratic decline.

Onanuga also stressed that politicians must be free to change party affiliations without facing accusations of betrayal or coercion.

He remarked, “Without freedom of choice, association, and speech, democracy cannot survive. Politicians and citizens alike must have the liberty to support any political platform without fear.”

The Special Adviser criticised those who accuse the government of authoritarian tendencies, arguing that their very ability to express dissent freely is proof of Nigeria’s democratic vibrancy under Tinubu’s leadership.

He stated, “Those who oppose this administration do so without fear or repression. This shows that democracy is alive and well in Nigeria, despite the alarmist narratives pushed by a few discontented voices.”

Gen. Katunku Simon Gora, A Leader With Humility, Purpose, Positive Heart For Service

Published

By Tambaya Julius, Abuja

I’AM ROOTED IN HUMANITY AND DRIVEN BY IMPACTIVE SERVICE:

With nearly 30 years of exemplary military service behind me, my approach to leadership has always been anchored in humility and a profound respect for every individual. These principles are not mere concepts; they are deeply embedded values that influence every decision and action I take.

I firmly believe that true love and genuine selfless service can only originate from God. It is His presence within our hearts, minds, and strength that empowers us to extend sincere care and support to one another. My faith has been the guiding force, shaping my view that life’s true rewards come not from accolades, but from lifting others in their time of need.

Witnessing suffering – whether through poverty, disease, or adversity – stirs a deep compassion within me. I remain steadfast in my hope that one day, the essential needs of every community will be fully met. This vision continues to inspire my goals and fuels my enduring commitment to service.

MY LIFE BUILT ON PURPOSE AND INTERGRITY:

Integrity stands at the core of everything I do. I believe in living authentically, staying true to the person I am, while always striving to evolve into the person I am destined to become. God has blessed each of us with the gift of free will, and with it, the profound responsibility to use that freedom wisely.

Every goal I set is purposeful, pursued with enthusiasm, and carried out with unwavering dedication. Regardless of the final result, I find contentment in knowing that I have given my best, embracing each outcome with gratitude and humility.

Purpose, for me, is not a mere ambition; it is the reason for living. It is about making a tangible impact, however big or small, and knowing that one’s life has contributed meaningfully to the world.

FULFILLING MY CALLING OF SERVICE:

The most profound mission in life, I believe, is to answer the call for which we were created. Whether on the battlefield, within the community, or through personal growth, I have always sought to serve a purpose greater than myself.

Every act of service, no matter how modest, contributes to a larger tapestry of positive change. I am committed to ensuring that my time, my talents, and my energy are dedicated to making a difference leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and hope.

To me, success is not measured by personal achievements alone but by the lives we touch and the hope we inspire. If through my service I can make even the smallest difference, then I believe I have truly fulfilled my purpose.

WE MUST UNITE IN PROGRESS AND HOPE:

I firmly hold to the belief that unity is our greatest strength. “United we stand, divided we fall” is more than just a phrase; it is a timeless truth that reminds us of the power of collective effort. By standing together, supporting one another, and striving for common goals, we create a future rich with promise and opportunity.

Growth and progress are not achieved in isolation. They flourish when communities come together, bound by mutual respect, understanding, and a shared commitment to a better tomorrow. It is through unity that we overcome adversity, and through cooperation that we achieve lasting success.

The journey ahead may be filled with challenges, but with a spirit of togetherness and an unwavering focus on service and integrity, I am confident that we can continue to grow, prosper, and uplift one another.

As I reflect on my life’s journey, I remain deeply grateful for the experiences that have shaped me. Every moment of service, every challenge faced, and every act of compassion has reinforced my belief that a life of humility, purpose, and unwavering faith is a life well lived.

May we all strive to serve with heart, live with purpose, and unite in a spirit of hope and progress. Together, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
