In a move that has sparked controversy, the Nigerian Government has summoned the outspoken Islamic preacher, Ahmad Gumi, for interrogation regarding his recent remarks concerning the actions of bandits within the nation.

Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, took to the podium at the State House in Abuja to address journalists, revealing the decision to invite Ahmad Gumi for questioning.

Ahmad Gumi’s recent statements urging the government, particularly under the leadership of Tinubu, to engage in negotiations with bandits have drawn significant attention and criticism.

Minister Idris reiterated that no individual, regardless of status or influence, is exempt from the law, affirming the government’s determination to hold Gumi accountable for his statements.

Gumi’s plea for dialogue with bandits, contrasting it with what he perceives as the previous administration’s failure to engage in meaningful discussions, has stirred debate nationwide.

The controversial cleric’s assertion that terrorism in Nigeria is sustained not by local financing but rather by ransom payments from kidnapping activities has raised eyebrows and generated intense scrutiny.
