NAFDAC Coordinator in Sokoto, Mr Garba Adamu, revealed that the surrendered 41 pieces of 100kg expired seedlings, comprising maize and corn, were initially intended to support farmers but ended up in the hands of traders.

The voluntary surrender of these items reflects a positive collaboration between regulatory authorities and traders.

Adamu commended the Agro-allied Dealers Association for their efforts and reassured them of continued collaborations.

The commendable act of surrendering expired products contributes to the ongoing struggle to sanitize the country from adulterated and counterfeit goods.

Highlighting the prevalence of marketers dumping expired products in Sokoto markets and beyond, Adamu cautioned against selling adulterated, counterfeit, and unregistered items.

He emphasized NAFDAC’s commitment to enforcement and urged traders to uphold ethical standards in their businesses.

Emphasizing the importance of consumer awareness, Adamu urged Nigerians to check NAFDAC registration levels, manufacturing, and expiry dates before purchasing and using products.
