The governor emphasized accountability, warning against corruption and irresponsible spending during a three-day retreat for newly inaugurated council chairmen.

With a strong emphasis on financial responsibility, Governor Oyebanji conveyed his dedication to safeguarding local government allocations during the opening of a strategic planning retreat for council chairmen.

The governor emphasized the importance of accountability and discouraged any misuse of public funds.

Governor Oyebanji made it clear that he has a covenant with God to ensure the protection of local government funds.

This commitment aims to build trust and transparency in financial dealings.

Oyebanji sternly warned against corruption, emphasizing that anyone caught in corrupt practices would face legal consequences.

This zero-tolerance stance reinforces the governor’s commitment to clean governance.

While assuring non-interference in fund utilization, the governor urged prudent spending, emphasizing the need for accountable and responsible financial management.

The retreat’s theme, “State and Local Government Strategic Planning and Implementation,” underscores the importance of well-thought-out plans to drive positive change at the local level.

21st Century Compliant Projects: Oyebanji encouraged council chairmen to focus on projects that align with the demands of the 21st century.

This includes initiatives that address poverty, unemployment, and other challenges faced by local communities.

The governor urged chairmen to consult widely with communities to identify and execute projects that have a direct and positive impact on the masses.

Oyebanji reminded council bosses that their election is a call to serve, not a ticket for luxury.

He stressed the importance of leaving a positive legacy and making a difference in the lives of the people.

To ensure accountability, the governor announced plans to establish a Procurement Process and Office of Transformation and Service Delivery in all councils to monitor expenditure and performance.

By adhering to these guidelines, local government chairmen can contribute significantly to Ekiti State’s development while fostering trust and transparency in governance.
