Former presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has praised the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, for acknowledging the investigative work of Daily Nigerian reporter, Umar Audu.

Audu’s reports uncovered a six-week degree-for-cash scheme in Benin Republic, exposing a certificate racketeering syndicate operating in neighboring countries like Benin Republic and Togo.

In the investigation, an undercover reporter obtained a university degree from Cotonou in just six weeks at an affordable rate. The certificate and transcript bore the authentic scan code of Ecole Superieure de Gestion et de Technologies (ESGT), Benin Republic.

Issa-Onilu, in a commendation letter issued yesterday, described Audu’s undercover report as “a shining example of first-class journalism for national development.”

Reno, reacting via his verified social media handle, commended the Tinubu administration for recognizing and rewarding Mr. Umar Audu for his brilliant investigative journalism that exposed the six-week degree-for-cash scheme in Benin Republic.

“I particularly commend Mr. Lanre Issa Oniru, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency. He is a round peg in a round hole—a man who knows his job. The administration acted promptly, blacklisting the institutions concerned. It is not every time we condemn; if the government does well, let us commend. If they misbehave, we condemn. It will make them want to act well to elicit the praise of the citizenry.”
