In the spotlight recently, there have been misleading claims regarding the Federal Housing Authority’s (FHA) alleged plan to demolish around 1500 homes in Zhidu, near Lugbe phase 11, Abuja.

FHA aims to dispel misinformation spread by land grabbers who exploit innocent Nigerians, extorting money through the illicit sale of government land. A recent statement from FHA’s management clarifies their intent.

FHA acquired land from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for housing. After an enumeration exercise, compensation was duly paid to farmers.

Pre-development activities unveiled squatters encroaching on FHA’s land, particularly within the right of way (R of W) of Ring Road three, servicing the entire area.

About eight months ago, FHA and FCDA initiated the identification of developments within FHA’s land and Ring Road three for removal, ensuring orderly development.

FHA urged individuals with legitimate claims to the land to present proof of ownership and building approval for proper documentation.

Contrary to outlandish claims, FHA categorically denies planning the demolition of Zhidu community, offering a mere two weeks’ notice. The Authority remains steadfast against unwarranted public sentiments fueled by the community’s purported leaders.

Undeterred by ambush tactics, FHA stands resolute, emphasizing its commitment to preventing slum development within its estates. The call is clear – those with legitimate claims should step forward with necessary documentation for due process.
