Dr Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, has called for peace among Nigerians as Christians celebrate Christmas.
Matawalle made the call in his Christmas message on Monday in Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by Mr Henshaw Ogubike, Director, Information, Press and Public Relations in the ministry.
The minister said that Christmas is a time for reflection, gratitude and unity as it reminds all of the values of love, peace, and goodwill towards all.
According to him, in the midst of our diverse challenges, let us remember the essence of this season and strive to foster unity, understanding and harmony in our communities and nation.
“May the Christmas we celebrate bind us as one and align us with Christ’s teaching of peace, love and harmony.
“With and unity, we shall defeat our common enemies of terrorism and other criminalities.
Matawalle said that he was aware of the sacrifices made daily by the country’s brave men and women of the Armed Forces in ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
“Their dedication, resilience and commitment to duty, serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration to us all.
“This Christmas let us keep them in our thoughts and prayers while acknowledging their sacrifices and unwavering resolve to protect our beloved Nigeria,” he also said.
He further urged all to thank God and count their blessings as Nigerians.
“As we celebrate this special season in Nigeria and around the globe with our loved ones, we should thank God Almighty and count our blessings.
“I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes to every citizen of our great nation.
“Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” he said. (NAN
