Amidst a jubilant atmosphere, dignitaries, including Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, religious leaders, and members of the Catholic community, witnessed this momentous occasion.

Governor Radda, in his address, extended congratulations to the Christian community and lauded the robust inter-religious relationship between Muslims and Christians in the state.

Bishop Hassan Mathew Kukah of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, leading a delegation of Catholic bishops, emphasized the profound significance of Bishop Musa’s appointment.

This move marks a substantial stride for the Catholic Church in northern Nigeria, granting autonomy to the new diocese and laying the groundwork for unparalleled growth and development.

Acknowledging Governor Radda’s support for the Christian community, Bishop Kukah commended the harmonious coexistence between different religious groups.

The State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Shuaibu Liti, expressed optimism, foreseeing not only a strengthened church but also an enhanced contribution to the overall development of the state.

Rev. Gerald Mamman Musa, ordained as a priest in 1996, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Formerly the Director of the Centre for Studies on African Culture and Communication (CESACC) at the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA) in Port Harcourt, his appointment as Bishop of Katsina Diocese heralds a new era for the Catholic Church in northern Nigeria.
