Kogi governorship race, Ahmed Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a commanding lead over SDP’s Murtala Ajaka, securing 24,773 votes after the announcement of results in 18 local government areas.
The political landscape is tense as three local governments’ results are still pending.
Ododo has amassed 396,276 votes, outshining Ajaka’s 371,503 votes.
The heart of his triumph lies in Okene LG, where he garnered a staggering 138,416 votes, leaving PDP’s Dino Melaye with 1,463 votes and Ajaka with 271 votes in the dust.
Ododo continued his dominance in Adavi with 101,156 votes, as Melaye trailed with 1,005 votes and Ajaka with 268 votes.
Okehi also proved favourable for Ododo, securing 53,062 votes, while Melaye lagged with 2,722 votes, and Ajaka with 143 votes.
Yet, Ajaka found solace in Dekina LG, clinching 43,258 votes, a significant boost.
Ododo, in this instance, trailed with 7,174 votes, and Melaye with 498 votes. Ankpa also witnessed Ajaka’s triumph, as he pulled in 43,258 votes, surpassing Ododo’s 8,707 votes and Melaye’s 3,654 votes.
The plot thickened in Ofu LG, where Ajaka secured victory with 28,768 votes, leaving the APC’s candidate with 5,245 votes.
