Business mogul and philanthropist, Prince Tonye Princewill, has said the Port Harcourt ring road project was the brainchild of the administration of former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

The ring road project, whose contract was recently awarded by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, will cut across no fewer than six local government areas of the state.

Princewill, who spoke with newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday, described the 50-kilometre ring road project as a ‘good idea’.

He said: “First of all, I like the idea of the ring road project. It is an idea. It was in the previous government’s master plan. When I say previous government, it was Amaechi’s master plan.

“The idea is a good one but I don’t know about cost. People who are speaking about cost probably know the specifics, I don’t know the specifics.

“Those things are subject to public scrutiny but the idea itself is a good one. I heard that the size has reduced and the scope has reduced, but I don’t have the details.”

Princewill insisted that the Fubara-led administration in the state, is an extension of the administration of the immediate-past governor of the state, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

He said: “For Fubara’s cabinet, I know anything about the cabinet. I am not informed but I think thst somebody said the SSG is the same and some other positions. I don’t even know who is who. I have taken a very little interest in that; so I can even speak on it.

“People who are surprised about the way the government is being run shouldn’t be surprised at all because to me, it is really an extension of Wike’s government.

“It is the same family; the same house. They have won an election so that have the right to do what they want to do. My hope is that development comes to the state, peace comes to the state.”
