Niger Delta: Youths Lauds NSCDC Over Fight Against Oil Theft, Illegal Bunkering

The South South Youth Initiative (SSYI), has lauded the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for successfully leading the fight against oil theft and illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta region.

It specifically commended the NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, for the feat, saying that the success recorded has lead to the reduction of soot in Rivers State and other states in the region.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, SSYI National President, Comrade Imeabe Saviour Oscar, also lauded Audi for the payment of of backlog of over ₦300 million to families of deceased and wounded officers of the corps.

Oscar said: “We want to commend the efforts of the Commandant-General in keeping sanity in the corps, maintaining and ensuring professional conduct among men and officers and promoting decency in security formations.

“We are proud that with men like Commandant-General Audi, the nation is on the part of getting it right in the area of security. There is growing need that people like Audi should be given more opportunities to function in public offices of we must get to our Canaan Land.

“We are bold to recount that out of his numerous achievements, few of the following; that under the leadership of Audi as Commandant-General of NSCDC, 34 rifles were recovered from criminals in Imo State in December 2021.

“That he has ensured due respect for federal character in the appointment and posting of state commandants. These were not given attention to by his predecessors, but he has ensured that all parts of the nation are given equal attention.

“That he has worked assiduously in the fight against oil theft and illegal oil bunkering. The menace has reduced especially in the South-South and South-East. That he has eliminated the soot that was disturbing Rivers State and other states in the Niger Delta as a result of the success against illegal bunkering in the area.”
