An umbrella body for all Benue past union leaders, National Union of Benue Comrades has bestowed on a directorate cadre staff of the Department of Development Control, FCTA Abuja, Builder Jerome Ugboho a humanitarian award, at his office, in Abuja yesterday.
The award is said to the first of its kind for the union in recognition of a Benue son who has invested much of his energy, resources, and intellect for the empowerment of youths in Benue State and beyond.
Speaking on behalf of the group Comrade Anacha Moses, President, explained that the group was in Abuja to familiarize herself with the laudable humanitarian inroads Ugboho is rendering to youth in the state, and beyond.
“We are youth and we are happy to see those supporting us” he pointed out.
The youth group noted that Ugboho’s landmines in youth-support, in the areas of networking, empowerment, employment, mentorship among others, has become an indelible mark in the sand of time, adding that, this is what comradeship is all about.
Explaining further, Secretary of the youth group Comrade Ingororkaa Denen Gaius stated that as past students leaders in the state, they are united in promoting the cause of students who are still in school and to carry out projects that benefit them, and the youths in the state.
He said interacting and sharing experience with the likes of Ugboho will give them a sense of direction. Also, he noted that, presenting him award of recognition for humanitarian services Ugboho will be motivated to do more.
Responding after receiving the award, Bldr Ugboho said he is elated but surprised that someone somewhere is noticing his contributions to human endeavor.
“I thought you guys are coming around for us to sit down and chat, then you leave. I didn’t know I will be honored. All the same I want to appreciate you guys for competent ideas about the unity, peace and progress of our dear state” he noted.
He said his desire to do good is intrinsic, especially as a child of God Almighty. His passion is to continue to do good to all human being according to his ability without discrimination.
“My philosophy of life is driven by the fact that anytime I go to bed, I asked myself this question. Who have you been abled to put smiles on his/her face today? That is my passion and that is what gives me joy.” He said. He called on the youth in the state to work hard to change the negative patterns of poverty, unemployment and misery as well as support the incoming administration.
In a similar vein, a front line colleague Dr. Jesse Nor called on the youth to continue with the unity of purpose of interconnectivity and networking so as to secure a better future for the youths in the state.
The event want attended by family members, colleagues and friends.
Ugboho’s rising profile of humanitarian services was recently recognized by Coalition of Northern Journalists Forum, CONJOF. The organization that covers a broad spectrum of developmental and investigative journalism in the entire region, honored Ugboho in their series of national leadership award as one of the young emerging leader with potent pedigree to salvage the North, in particular and Nigeria at large
