PDP, Labour Party, Other Lawmakers Are Supporting Abbas – ANPCF

The Association of Northern Political Correspondent Forum (ANPCF) has said that the massive support for Tajudeen Abbas to emerge the next speaker is coming from members-elect from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other opposition political parties.

According to the group, a member-elect from the Labour Party has printed over 1000 face cap for Tajudeen Abbas adding that apart from the All Progressives Congress (APC) members-elect, Abbas is enjoying massive support from the opposition lawmakers.

The group stated this while debunking a report in one national daily that some opposition lawmakers are pitching their tent with other contestants.

In a statement issued by the president of the forum, Chris Alu, the group said the report was fake and diversionary, aimed at dividing the camp of Tajudeen Abbas.

The statement said Abbas campaign coordinators across the 36 states and FCT are mostly from both the APC, PDP, LP, APGA, SDP, NNPP adding that they are all members-elect.

It added that the unity forum for the success of Abbas is headed by Hon Eze Nwackukwu Eze adding that the forum comprise of members-elect and returning members from different political parties such as: LP, PDP, NNPP, APGA, SDP and APC who are working for Abbas to emerge as speaker of the 10th Assembly.

The statement further added that a member-elect from the opposition labour party volunteered to produce over 1000 face caps with abbas inscription for the speaker of the 10th assembly, while other members-elect from other parties are contributing in several ways.

ANPCF president said, Abbas campaign office has become a beehive of activities on a daily basis by members-elect trooping in from different political parties and strategizing on how Abbas will win, the statement added.

It also added that the unity forum for Abbas remains resolute and will not be deterred by fake news from political jobbers and hucksters who are bent on creating confusion and promoting false news in order to cause distraction and division in the camp of Abbas.

It therefore calls on lawmakers to ignore the report and continue to work together, insisting that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The statement described Abbas as a man of courage and conscience that will carry along all interest groups if elected as the speaker of the house of representative.
