Four of the remaining 11 kidnapped students of the Federal Government College in Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State, have been released.

A notorious bandit, Dogo Gide freed them and two babies after the payment of an unspecified ransom, reportedly in millions.

The kingpin had issued a list of conditions the state government must meet before the remaining girls could be released.

Two of the released teenagers returned with the babies they delivered while being held hostage, according to PRNigeria.

In January, the parents of the victims begged Nigerians to help raise money to get the girls out. They were among at least 100 taken in June 2021.

An open letter signed by Salim Ka’oje and Daniel Alkali disclosed the abductors had demanded N100 million for the teenagers aged 12 – 16 years.

The urgent public appeal followed the Kebbi authorities’ alleged reluctance to accept the demands made by the captives.

One mother of a kidnapped victim passed away in November 2022, days after receiving news of her daughter becoming a mother in a terrorists’ den.
