The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Nasarawa State has revealed the All Progressives Congress’ plot to cause mayhem in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assemblies elections.
The plot, the opposition party said would enable the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to declare inconclusive elections so that they can manipulate results.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Karu, Nasarawa State, PDP claimed that the APC in the State have hired bad boys to attack PDP’s strongholds for a possible cancellation of results.
While addressing the press, former Minister of information, Labaran Maku alleged that available information before his party, the PDP showed that unknown persons who’s identity and mission are yet to be known have been imported into the State.
Maku who is also the Director General of the Atiku/Umbugadu campaign council in the state, said the ruling party thrived on violence, adding that the incesant bloodbath in some parts of the state in the past years attested to the fact.
The PDP DG claimed further that the Intel, security operatives showed an urgent need for heavily moblization of security to areas such Karu, Awe Doma and Lafia to avert the planed action of the ruling APC in order to ensure that the electorates vote for political parties and candidates of their choice during the poll.
The former minister also alleged move by the APC to induce voters in contravention of the stipulated Electoral Act 2022, adding that the ruling party has already deployed it’s agents across the PDP stronghold to do their bidden in the Saturday polls.
He called on security agencies and operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to be on alert in Nasarawa State in other to arrest those allegedly employed to carryout such nefarious act.
He accused the ruling party of wasting the goodwill that brought the party to power in 2015, adding that the people of the state will end APC’s misrule and return PDP to power on Saturday.
“I therefore urged PDP supporters to conduct themselves peaceful as they have always done in the past during the election”..
In a swift reaction, the public Relations Officer of the ruling APC in Nasarawa state, Chief Douglas Otaru dismissed the claims by opposition PDP saying is an exercise in futility, which lacked merit.
According to Otaru, the opposition PDP is crying fowl because they have seen it clearly that they have been rejected by the people of Nasarawa as a result of the achievements of governor Abdullahi Sule in his four years in office.
“We in APC do not have the time for trivial issues rather our concerns is to provide the dividends of democracy to the people whch has been the cardinal point of governor Abdullahi Sule in the last four years”.
PDP should focus on what will give them the opportunity to rule the state again after several years of wasteful spending in Nasarawa State, the APC image maker declared
