Barely few weeks to the 2023 general elections, the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly and the APC Senatorial candidate, Ali Ndume has conceded defeat to his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon Satumari Haske Kudla.
Ndume repeatedly called on the people of Southern Borno to vote for their State Governor,Umara Zulum since they have made up their minds not to vote for him.
Ndume first made the call in Gwoza, his Local government area, when he was booed by his kingsmen for serving for about 20 years at the National Assembly without visible impact. Recently while accompanying the State governor on campaign to Askira Uba, his opponent’s local government area, Ndume again made a similar statement as he was reported to have said: “please vote Zulum because I know you will not vote for me.”
Meanwhile, Kudla Satumari Haske, the PDP Borno South Senatorial candidate has continued to receive massive support from electorates from all parties.
It was gathered that his campaign trail has been visiting all nooks and crannies of Southern Borno, receiving the endorsements of traditional rulers, religious groups, community leaders, women and youth alike.
Sources close to Ndume revealed that he is becoming less enthusiastic about his campaign and is gradually resigning to fate for the imminent defeat at the polls by Haske.
Also, Alhaji Idris Durkwa, who is a two time gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the APC but have now joined the PDP with other stakeholders in Borno South have vowed to join forces with supporters of Haske to retire Ndume from Senate come 25th February 2023.
Kudla, who was addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters in Pulka/ Gwoza today Saturday, promised to be accountable to the electorate.
Haske said he will remain a promise keeper, calling on the people to vote massively for him.
