The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has said it troops deployed across the country neutralized 139 terrorists and rescued 42 kidnapped victims.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Benard Onyeuko who stated this during the biweekly update on Armed Forces of Nigeria operations between 10 -24 February 2022 said 466 Boko Haram and ISWAP Terrorists and their families surrendered.
The surrendered terrorists comprised of 120 Adult Males, 137 Adult Females and 209 Children with the claimed to have lost interest in the BHT ideology.
He said the troops arrested 111 terrorists,kidnappers and recovered cache of arms and ammunitions.
In a related development,troops within the period under review, recovered 1,118,175 litres of illegal AGO and 2,086.000 litres of stolen crude oil.
Furthermore, the troops discovered and recovered 38 refining sites with 100 metal storage tanks, 25 dugout pits, 75 cooking ovens, 20 cotonou boats, 35 Yamaha pumping machines, 15 coolants as well as 10 tankers.
General Onyeuko said the troops also destroyed 35 galvanized pipes illegally connected and arrested 13 economic saboteurs associated with pipeline vandalization.
He said all recovered items and apprehended criminals have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further actions.
In the Northeast, he said troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 63 fighters, arrested 86 members of the terrorists, recovered four gun trucks, 25 AK47 rifles, 56 magazines with 6.2mm special ammunitions, 78 rounds of different calibers of ammunitions, 67 packets of rounds on links, 3 FN grenades and three bandoliers.
Troops also rescued 20 abducted civilians while 466 Boko Haram and ISWAP Terrorists and their families, comprising of 120 Adult Males, 137 Adult Females and 209 Children surrendered with the claimed to have lost interest in the BHT ideology.
He said the surrendered terrorists have been properly documented and handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary actions.
On the other hand,the Director said troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI operation lead to the recovery of 10 AK 47 rifles, 100 rounds of 6.2mm ammunitions, 20 motorcycles, 40 herds of rustled cows, 50 rams.
He said the troops also rescued 10 kidnapped civilians, arrested 10 bandits and neutralized 10 bandits.
Relatedly, the troops of Operation Safe Haven engagements led recovery of one AK 47 rifle, two locally made guns, four rustled cows, one Toyota Camry car and I Mikano generating set, while three Cattle rustlers and two Kidnappers were arrested.
He added that 60 displaced person were rescued and taken to shelter.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke neutralized 55 terrorists in Kaduna.
