The gubernatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kaduna State for the 2027 election, Barr. Mohammed Sani Abbas, has condemned in strong terms what he called “the unfortunate incident involving the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, Mr. Peter Obi, while on his way into Makurdi.”
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Ibrahim Muhammad, Abbas said, “This is deeply disturbing and unacceptable in a democratic society where every citizen has the right to move freely, participate in political activities, and express their views without fear or intimidation.”
The gubernatorial candidate extended his heartfelt sympathy and solidarity to Mr. Peter Obi, his family, supporters, and all those affected by this unfortunate incident.
He explained that political differences must never become a justification for violence, harassment, or any act capable of threatening lives and undermining our democracy.
Abbas called on the Government and relevant security authorities to take the matter seriously, conduct a transparent and thorough investigation, identify those responsible, and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
According to him, “Nigeria belongs to all of us. We may belong to different political parties and hold different opinions, but our shared commitment must be to peace, justice, democracy, and the protection of human life.
“Let us reject political violence and intimidation. Let us choose dialogue over confrontation and democracy over destruction.”
“Enough is enough. Justice must prevail.”
