Former Sokoto State Governor and Senate Minority Leader, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome as a resounding affirmation of democratic principles.
The Senator representing Sokoto South, in a statement posted on his official X account, said the poll’s result demonstrated the electorate’s unwavering resolve to defend democracy through the ballot box.
“This victory is not merely a personal triumph for Governor Adeleke; it is a victory for democracy and, above all, for the people of Osun State, who have once again exercised their constitutional right to determine their leadership,” Tambuwal stated.
The former Speaker of the 7th National Assembly emphasised that the election outcome reinforced the power of citizens to shape their governance, adding that respect for voters’ choices bolsters democratic institutions and enhances public trust in the electoral system.
“The ballot remains the most powerful expression of the people’s will in a democracy. When citizens freely make their choice and that choice is respected, our institutions are strengthened and public confidence deepens,” he remarked.
Tambuwal commended the people of Osun for their active participation and commitment to the democratic process, noting that Adeleke’s renewed mandate reflected the governor’s earned trust among the populace.
Offering counsel to the re-elected governor, Tambuwal urged him to recognise that the fresh mandate carried heightened responsibility, advising inclusive governance that serves all Osun citizens regardless of political leaning.
“As he prepares to continue the work of governance, I urge him to see this renewed mandate as an even greater responsibility to serve all the people of Osun State, without regard to political affiliation,” he advised.
The federal lawmaker concluded with prayers for divine wisdom, strength, and success for Governor Adeleke as he embarks on his second term.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency. Congratulations to the people of Osun State. Democracy has won,” Tambuwal declared.
