Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, has expressed grave concern over the escalating terrorist attacks plaguing parts of Sokoto State, warning that no community is safe from the wave of violence.

The former governor, who condemned the killings, kidnappings, cattle rustling, and mass displacement of residents, described the situation as deeply distressing. His remarks came as he extended condolences to Kebbe Local Government Area following the death of Assistant Superintendent of Police Hussaini Balarabe, who lost his life in a fierce gun battle with armed bandits.

“The death of ASP Hussaini Balarabe in the line of duty is a painful reminder of the enormous sacrifices our security personnel make daily to protect our people,” Tambuwal said. “We mourn his death and commend his courage and dedication.”

The Senator also visited Shagari and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas, where communities continue to suffer deadly attacks and abductions. He called for urgent and robust security interventions, stressing that rural livelihoods, agriculture, and commerce are under severe threat.

“Our people in Shagari and other affected communities should not be left to face these criminal elements alone,” he pleaded. “They deserve adequate protection, and we must do everything possible to restore their confidence and enable them to return to their farms and livelihoods without fear.”

Tambuwal urged governments at all levels and security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance, and rapid-response capabilities. He called for sustained, well-coordinated, and adequately resourced military and police operations until vulnerable communities are secured.

“Security operations must be sustained and coordinated until these communities are safe and the criminal elements are decisively dealt with,” he stressed.

The Senator further appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue all captives and ensure perpetrators face justice. He also called on residents, traditional rulers, and community leaders to collaborate closely with security forces by providing credible and timely information.

“Security is a collective responsibility,” Tambuwal emphasised. “Government, security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and citizens must work together to defeat the forces of criminality threatening our communities.”

He prayed for the souls of those killed, asking Almighty Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and for strength for their families. He also prayed for the safe return of all captives and lasting peace across Kebbe, Shagari, Sabon Birni, and other affected communities in Sokoto State.
