The calibre of a campaign apparatus often presages the effectiveness of an ensuing administration. Political analysts contend that robust governance is forged in the crucible of a formidable election team, serving as a direct barometer of organisational acumen and political dexterity.

Governor Agbu Kefas has demonstrated a keen aptitude for assembling a potent coalition to secure his re-election in 2027. Unlike the 2023 cycle, where he was not at the helm of selection, Dr Kefas is now personally orchestrating the process—a clear signal that he is intent on delivering a decisive mandate.

At the apex of this structure is Hon. Danladi Tijos Baido, appointed as Director-General. A towering figure in Taraba’s political landscape, Baido’s selection brings formidable experience, brand recognition, and legacy to the fore. His emergence has already galvanised the political terrain. An affable statesman, he navigates the state’s pluralistic society with ease, possessing a granular understanding of its voting dynamics. Having twice contested the governorship, he is no neophyte; he is a living repository of political nuance and governance intricacies. His early stewardship has proven prescient, harmonising divergent interests into a cohesive force for progress.

Baido’s sagacity was further evident in the recent zonal appointments, designed to ensure robust grassroots participation.

For the Northern Zone, Prof. Albasu Kunini, a former Speaker and accomplished accountant, assumes leadership. A seasoned businessman and former governorship aspirant, Kunini brings first-hand knowledge of local political currents.

For the Central Zone, Hon. Kabiru Jalo, a former House of Representatives member and protégé of the late Victor Bala Kona, has been widely lauded. His meticulous attention to detail and proven ability to influence political outcomes make him an apt choice.

For the Southern Zone, Dr Bulus Maiyaki, a former Commissioner for Finance and holder of the traditional title of Makama, takes the reins. Renowned for his philanthropy and easy-going rapport with the electorate, his appointment has been hailed as a victory for the people.

The campaign secretariat is helmed by the energetic Rt Hon Josiah Kente, a former Speaker and current Special Adviser (Political) to the Governor. An academic and seasoned legislator, Kente’s breadth of experience is expected to anchor the team’s administrative functions.

Meanwhile, the public face of the campaign will be Emmanuel Bello, a prominent voice in Taraba’s media sphere. His appointment has energised the press corps, with expectations high that his expertise will enhance media relations both within the state and nationally.
