Abuja – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that major infrastructure projects across Abuja city centre and its satellite towns are now 100 per cent complete and ready for inauguration.

Speaking on Thursday after inspecting several ongoing projects in Abuja, Mr Wike said the projects would be inaugurated to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office. He described the development as a clear demonstration of the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda”, delivering dividends of democracy to residents of the capital.

The minister inspected multiple sites, beginning with the Jahi-Wuye interchange, and expressed satisfaction with the quality of work. He also toured the Airport Road to Kuje project, being executed by Arab Contractors, and the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road project, handled by Gilmor.

Mr Wike noted the seamless connectivity now available to commuters, with a significant reduction in travel times. “You can drive from the city down to Kuje in less than 25 minutes,” he said, highlighting the impact on satellite towns.

Regarding the remodelled Abuja City Gate – rehabilitated by Julius Berger – the minister revealed plans to inaugurate the structure at night to showcase its aesthetic appeal. He has requested that the contractor ensure full nocturnal illumination so residents and visitors can appreciate its true beauty.

On the Outer Southern Expressway, Mr Wike certified the engineering works and road quality, reiterating that “governance in the FCT is firmly in action mode.”

He announced that the inauguration of the projects will begin on 8 June and run for 31 days. “When you do something and people are happy with what you are doing, you will also be happy,” he said. “The ongoing transformation is a testament to the President’s commitment to rewriting the story of the nation’s capital.”
