A governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Danjuma Usman Shiddi, has launched a blistering attack on the Taraba State Government, accusing it of poor governance, chronic neglect, worsening insecurity, and failing to address the escalating hardship faced by residents.
Speaking during a public unveiling of his ‘Rescue Taraba’ agenda, Shiddi declared that the people have endured years of unfulfilled promises, decaying infrastructure, unemployment, and economic stagnation under the current administration.
He painted a grim picture of struggling families, farmers blocked from markets, rural communities gripped by fear, and young people losing hope due to a lack of opportunities.
“For too long, our people have waited for leadership that turns promises into progress, protects families, and opens doors for every citizen,” Shiddi said.
Describing the state as trapped in mismanagement, he called for a new direction anchored on accountability, security, economic revival, and people-centred governance. He specifically faulted the government for failing to secure highways and farmlands, while abandoning agriculture, education, healthcare, and youth development.
Under his proposed agenda, Shiddi pledged to strengthen community policing, support farmers with improved seedlings and market access, rehabilitate schools and hospitals, and create jobs through vocational training and private sector partnerships. He also promised transparent, accountable management of public funds.
The aspirant vowed to run an inclusive administration that listens to the people rather than “ruling from afar,” and called on youths, women, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the media to join the movement for change.
“If given the opportunity to serve, I will rescue Taraba from neglect and restore hope to our people,” he said.
The declaration is set to intensify political debates ahead of Taraba State’s next governorship election.
