President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured a commanding victory in the Sokoto State leg of the APC 2026 presidential primaries, polling 301,000 votes against challenger Stanley Osifo, who failed to register a single ballot.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu, who served as the state’s Chief Collation Officer, announced the result on Saturday night at the APC Secretariat in Sokoto. He declared Tinubu the winner of the state’s primary election.
The governor hailed party loyalists and supporters, describing the outcome as a clear signal of what to expect in the 2027 general election.
“As the Chief Collation Officer and Governor of Sokoto State, I am empowered to collect results from 3,901 polling units across 23 local government areas, verify them, and forward the figures to the national headquarters for final collation and announcement,” Aliyu explained.
He also thanked his mentor and political godfather, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his steadfast support, pledging to continue delivering good governance to the people of the state.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Hon. Haruna Ajiya, described the exercise as a testament to the party’s commitment to internal democracy.
