The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) has commissioned a 100-bed Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital in Dumbin Rauga, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The facility marks a major step toward advancing Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) and reinforcing Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, described the hospital as a strategic intervention for vulnerable populations.

“Healthcare is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Every mother deserves a safe delivery. Every child deserves a healthy start to life,” she said.

According to a statement from her media aide, Desmond Utomwen, the hospital features operating theatres, recovery rooms, private and general wards, a scanning room, consultation rooms, a laboratory, an ultrasound machine, a vacuum extractor delivery set, and an emergency cart.

The project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises people-centred development.

House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, who facilitated the project, said: “This facility represents a critical investment in the health and wellbeing of our people.”

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, commended the federal government, adding: “This hospital will greatly strengthen our healthcare system.”

The new facility is expected to ease pressure on existing hospitals, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and boost health indices across the region.
