Nigerian gospel artiste, Testimony Jaga, has disagreed with former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo over his recent remarks on the “prosperity gospel” doctrine.

Osinbajo, who is also a pastor, had rejected claims that faith guarantees wealth and physical well-being, insisting that such teachings are not central to Christian doctrine.

He made the assertion during a live discussion at the Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, while responding to arguments raised by Pastor Korede Komaiya.

However, Jaga, in a widely circulated video, countered the former vice-president’s position, maintaining that the gospel message embodies both spiritual and material dimensions.

“There’s no such thing. There’s only a gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, sir,” the singer stated.

He further questioned the distinction drawn between prosperity teachings and the broader Christian message, calling for what he described as a more holistic interpretation of the gospel.

The exchange has since triggered fresh debate within Nigeria’s Christian community, with divergent views emerging on the place of prosperity teachings in modern ministry.

Observers note that the development underscores ongoing conversations around theology and the influence of church leaders in shaping doctrinal understanding.
