The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, announced this in a statement on Tuesday in Abeokuta.

He explained that the Sango-Ota divisional police station, acting on the directive of Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, had intensified Operation “No Traffic Gridlock” in the corridor. The exercise led to the arrest and arraignment of nine offenders for traffic violations and obstruction of public highways.

“Operatives were strategically deployed to identified flashpoints notorious for persistent congestion and road indiscipline,” Mr Babaseyi said. “During the coordinated enforcement exercise, several vehicles and tricycles were intercepted for breaching extant traffic regulations. Those found obstructing the free flow of traffic were promptly impounded in line with the command’s zero-tolerance policy.”

The nine suspects have since been formally charged in court, while monitoring and enforcement continue to apprehend other violators undermining public safety and order within the Sango-Ota corridor.

Commissioner Ojajuni commended the professionalism of the operatives and reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for road obstruction and traffic indiscipline. He warned that any individual, regardless of status, found deliberately causing gridlock or disobeying lawful directives from traffic officers would face the law.

He also advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the Ogun State Police Command via its emergency lines: Gateway Shield (toll-free) 0800 000 9111; 0906 283 7609; 0912 014 1706; 0915 102 7369; and 0708 497 2994.
