The Nigeria Police Force has unsealed the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, granting access to a faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The factional National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, announced the development in a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.

According to the statement, both the Wadata Plaza secretariat and the presidential campaign office, Legacy House in Maitama, were unsealed in compliance with duly issued court orders. The properties have now been handed over to the Mohammed-led National Working Committee, with Senator Samuel Anyanwu recognised as National Secretary.

Mr Mohammed commended the police for their professionalism and adherence to the rule of law, describing the action as “a clear demonstration of respect for constitutional order and due process.”

He warned that the party would not tolerate any obstruction, disruption, or breach of peace at the secretariat, adding that security agencies were prepared to act against violators.

“This development reassures members that recent challenges have been effectively resolved,” Mr Mohammed said. He urged aggrieved members to sheathe their swords and embrace unity in the party’s collective interest.

He also thanked PDP leaders and stakeholders, particularly Mr Wike, describing his support as invaluable. “Together, we move forward—stronger, united, and more committed to our shared vision,” he added.

The police had sealed the secretariat and Legacy House in November 2025 following violent clashes between rival factions at Wadata Plaza.

However, the rival faction led by Tanimu Turaki has condemned the unsealing, describing it as contemptuous. Its spokesman, Ini Ememobong, said the court judgment cited by the police had been appealed, and all parties were duly informed.

“By this action, they have tampered with the res [the subject matter], which could render the Court of Appeal’s judgment nugatory,” Mr Ememobong said. He accused the police of partisan interference and urged party members to remain peaceful.

He assured that lawful steps would be taken to protect the rights of genuine PDP members, adding: “Though pain may tarry at night, joy will come in the morning. Let us endure with hope.”
