In a statement on Friday, the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, condemned the alleged misconduct.

“Consequently, the CGI has temporarily relieved the comptrollers in charge of the affected commands of their duties and has directed a thorough investigation surrounding these incidents, in order to identify all officers involved, and ensure that appropriate disciplinary measures are applied with immediate effect,” the statement read.

Nandap reassured the public of the NIS’s continued commitment to professionalism, transparency, and efficiency at all entry and exit points across Nigeria. She reiterated that the service would not tolerate any act capable of eroding public trust or undermining its institutional integrity.

Members of the public were encouraged to report any form of misconduct through the NIS’s official communication channels, including its social media platforms. Dedicated contact centre numbers—09121900655, 09121556359, and 09121477092—are available 24 hours a day as part of efforts to strengthen internal accountability mechanisms and enhance service delivery.

The NIS reaffirmed its resolve to uphold integrity, discipline, and professionalism while facilitating lawful migration in Nigeria.
