The Governor of Imo State and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodinma, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not plan to rezone its political offices ahead of its national convention.

Uzodinma made the disclosure while addressing journalists after a Progressives Governors Forum meeting held in Lagos on Sunday.

He insisted that the existing zoning arrangements would remain.

“We are not re-zoning. The offices are already zoned. The President is still in office. The Vice President is still in office.

“It goes without saying that under the Electoral Act, the positions will remain where they are.

“This particular convention is not for primaries. The primaries for elective positions will be conducted by INEC.

“This convention is for party officers who will run our party,” Uzodinma stated.

Meanwhile, Uzodinma has met with critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state ahead of the party’s scheduled ward and local government congresses nationwide, urging members to remain united and focused.

Naija News reports that the governor, who addressed party leaders yesterday at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Chambers in Government House, said the outcome of the congresses would shape the party’s future and electoral prospects.

Uzodinma emphasised that harmony and discipline among members remained key to sustaining electoral victories, stressing the need for peaceful harmonisation among aspirants and party faithful.

“I urge stakeholders to collaborate in reinforcing the Party’s structure and enhancing its electoral prospects. The Party’s success hinges on the cooperation and sincerity of its members,” he said.

He also advocated inclusive leadership and urged party leaders to accommodate diverse opinions in decision-making processes.

“I advocate for inclusive leadership, and that all voices within the Party be considered in decision-making.

“APC is a family bound by a common vision for development, hence I urge for adherence to dialogue to resolve disagreements,” the governor added.

The governor maintained that the strength of the party lies in its unity, encouraging members to prioritise collective interests over personal ambitions.

He acknowledged the contributions of party leaders and grassroots mobilisers in expanding the party’s reach across the state, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to development and security.

In his remarks, the state chairman of the party, MacDonald Ebere, commended members for their efforts in the ongoing electronic registration exercise.

He also appreciated the governor for providing what he described as an enabling environment for the party to thrive and urged members to sustain their commitment to a peaceful congress.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Committee for the Ward and LGA congresses, Godwin Anawore, highlighted the importance of the exercise, expressing optimism about the party’s prospects.

He commended the governor’s role in fostering unity among members, noting that the congress would play a crucial role in strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
