The proponent of the National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons bill, Dr Baba Mohammed, has felicitated with Muslim faithful, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other Nigerians on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitri.

In a statement on Saturday, Mohammed described Eid-el-Fitri as a period that symbolises unity, peace and compassion, urging Muslims across the country to uphold the virtues imbibed during Ramadan.

He called on the faithful to rededicate themselves to the teachings of the holy month by embracing piety, empathy and unity, while also extending kindness to the less privileged, irrespective of religious differences.

The NATCOM bill proponent, who is also the Madaki of Ankpa, stressed that the lessons of Ramadan should not end with fasting but must translate into sustained acts of selflessness, perseverance and compassion.

He further acknowledged Nigeria’s diversity, urging citizens to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance and collective efforts towards national development.

Mohammed prayed for peace and prosperity in the country, expressing hope that Allah would accept the prayers of the faithful and guide the nation on the path of harmony.

He also enjoined Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for the country and the successful take-off of NATCOM, noting that its operations would significantly address the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.

According to him, the commission, when operational, will contribute to tackling insecurity, creating employment opportunities for youths and strengthening the nation’s economy.

Mohammed added that the eventual take-off of NATCOM would stand as one of the enduring legacies of the administration of President Tinubu.
