One notable initiative is the rehabilitation of boreholes in Donga Local Government Area, addressing the urgent challenges of water scarcity and related health risks. For example, a borehole drilled in Gyatta’aure Ward now serves over 300 households, alleviating the exorbitant costs associated with potable water and significantly reducing the risk of waterborne diseases such as cholera.
“Access to safe water is fundamental to public health, education, and economic productivity,” Dr. Maiyaki states. “By restoring these water sources, we not only tackle existing problems but also demonstrate our understanding of the everyday needs of the people.”
Electrifying Southern Taraba
In his role as Director of Procurement at the Rural Electrification Agency in Abuja, Dr. Maiyaki facilitated the distribution of ten transformers across Southern Taraba. This initiative has extended electrification to several villages, enhancing the quality of life for countless residents.
Local stakeholders have described Dr. Maiyaki’s philanthropic gestures as exceptional. His inclusive leadership style and prompt responsiveness to grassroots needs have made a significant impact. As one beneficiary, Mallam Sanusi Muhammed, noted, “For decades, politicians have failed to deliver tangible benefits to Donga. The Bishop lauded Dr. Maiyaki as a distinguished philanthropist whose efforts transcend religious, ethnic, and political boundaries.
“Leadership should be entrusted to individuals with proven character and compassion,” the Bishop remarked, emphasising Dr. Maiyaki’s track record of selfless service. He offered prayers for divine guidance, urging the community to support leaders who prioritise the common good.
In response, Dr. Maiyaki thanked the Bishop for his prayers and reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders to restore peace in communities affected by conflict. He has pledged to ensure fairness and justice if elected to represent the people in the National Assembly.
