Nigeria’s non-oil exports rose to $6.1bn in 2025, the Federal Government has said.

The Executive Director of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Nonye Ayeni, disclosed this on Monday during a news briefing, noting that the figure represents an 11.5 per cent increase from the $5.4bn recorded in December 2024.

Ayeni said the Netherlands, Brazil and India emerged as Nigeria’s top three export destinations during the year.

She added that about 1.23 million metric tonnes of goods were exported to 11 member states of the Economic Community of West African States, with Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Benin accounting for the bulk of the volume.

According to her, trade within the ECOWAS sub-region and across Africa declined following the exit of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger from the bloc.

Ayeni further revealed that 281 products were exported in 2025, cutting across agricultural commodities as well as processed and semi-processed goods.

She listed cocoa, sesame seeds, urea, soya beans and rubber among Nigeria’s leading non-oil export products during the period.
