The Ankpa Good Governance Vanguard (AGGV) has questioned the role of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Zoe New Dawn, Engineer Akpa Stephen Achema, in the ongoing discourse around healthcare challenges in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The group raised the concerns in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its chairman, Audu Musa.

AGGV said healthcare challenges in Ankpa should not be politicised or turned into a media campaign, warning that the sector was too sensitive to be used for personal or political gain.

“Healthcare is a serious and critical matter that requires sincerity, collaboration and respect for local realities, not propaganda or publicity stunts,” the statement read.

The group alleged that individuals who are not rooted in Ankpa were being mobilised to create tension in the area under the guise of philanthropy.

AGGV also queried repeated media reports attributed to Achema on plans to establish facilities, including a hospital and a hotel, asking for clarity on the location and status of the proposed projects.

“The public is entitled to ask where these projects are located and whether they truly exist beyond press statements,” the group said.

While stressing that it was not opposed to genuine assistance aimed at improving healthcare delivery in Ankpa, AGGV said such efforts must be free of political undertones, personal branding or hidden agendas.

The group urged those interested in supporting healthcare development in Ankpa to work with recognised authorities, community leaders and relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency and sustainability.

AGGV called on Achema to desist from actions it described as politicising Ankpa’s health challenges, adding that the community deserved long-term solutions rather than controversy.
