Hundreds of protesters staged anti-war rallies across several United States cities on Saturday, condemning Washington’s military action in Venezuela and calling for an end to hostilities.

In downtown Los Angeles, demonstrators gathered in the rain, holding placards reading, “Stop bombing Venezuela now!” and “No blood for oil,” while speakers addressed the crowd, witnesses said.

Some protesters also displayed signs criticising former President Donald Trump, under whose administration the action reportedly occurred.

Outside the White House in Washington, about 100 people protested at a rally organised by the ANSWER Coalition and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, both anti-war groups. The organisers accused the US government of unlawfully detaining Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, a claim not acknowledged by US authorities.

One protester, identified as Niven, said the demonstration was against what he described as American imperialism.
“They want oil… they want to help corporate billionaires. Bombing is just their means of taking control,” he said.

In New York City, hundreds gathered at Times Square on Saturday night to protest the military action. A protester, Emma, said she believed the US intervention in Venezuela was “illegitimate,” urging an immediate halt to the operation.

A smaller protest involving about 50 people was also held in Las Vegas, according to organisers.

US officials have yet to formally respond to the protests, while details of the military action in Venezuela remain limited as of press time.
