Zamfara State has been a hotbed for the activities of bandits and terrorists terrorizing the North Western States.

According to Yari, because of the mining activities and the thick forest in Zamfara State, the bandits who carried out their heinous activities in Kaduna, Katsina and other states within the North West run to Zamfara as their safe place.

Yari stated this during plenary when he raised a point of order 41:2.

Even though the Senate is ready to deliberate on the Yari’s motion, the former Governor of Zamfara State said insecurity is a daily occurrence in Zamfara state with famers unable to access their farm lands.

“At around 5am today (Wednesday) some of the constituents called me and informed me that 30 people and soldiers were killed around Maru local government area of Zamfara State.

“These bandits in Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, will go and carry out their heinous activities and run to Zamfara State because of the forest,” Yari said.

According to him, “the bandits are now imposing levies on famers before they can access their farms.

“Many farmers don’t go to their farms,” Yari added before Senate President Godswill Akpabio admonished him to sponsor the motion for Thursday’s plenary for deliberation and all Senators agreed.
