Wamakko, through his spokesperson, Abdallah El-kurebe who emphatically noted that the publication by the New Telegraph was not only misleading but also an act of mischief, as he has never either in private nor public shown interest for the position of vice the president.

While saying the statement credited to the chairman of Kebbe local government, Abdullahi Yerima, Senator Wamakko said it was pure false, baseless and not authourized by him.

The statement as signed by El-Kurebe read in part, ‘The attention of Distinguished Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko (Sarkin Yamman Sokoto), has been drawn to a misleading and unauthorized statement credited to the Chairman of Kebbe Local Government Council, Abdullahi Yerima, and published by the New Telegraph in a report titled: “2027 Aspirations: Northern Leaders Urged to Support Wamakko”.

“We wish to state unequivocally that Senator Wamakko has never at any time publicly or privately expressed interest in contesting for the position of Vice President in the 2027 general elections, or in any political arrangement of that nature.

“Any insinuation or claim to that effect is false, baseless, and highly irresponsible”

Continuing, the statement said, “The said statement by Abdullahi Yerima is not only unauthorized but also a reckless and deliberate act of political mischief intended to mislead the public and drag the name of the Distinguished Senator into needless and unfounded political speculation.

“Senator Wamakko hereby calls on Abdullahi Yerima to immediately retract the statement, tender an unreserved apology to the Distinguished Senator and his family, and desist from further actions capable of undermining his reputation and distorting his well-known political stance”

On the Senator’s political stand, El-Kurebe said, “Let it be on record that Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko remains focused on serving the people of Sokoto State and the nation through responsible leadership and political maturity, and should not be drawn into opportunistic narratives concocted for selfish motives”.
