Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has been elected as the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election.
The affirmation, conducted on Saturday by the party’s 37 state chairmen, took place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Announcing the outcome, the APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said Makinde’s selection was driven by his humanitarian record and infrastructural achievements over the past three years. He noted that the country is in urgent need of similar progress at the federal level.
Describing the governor as a “political warrior” who has governed without fear, favour, or distraction, Dantalle called on the people of Oyo State, the South West, and the nation at large to rally behind Makinde as a compassionate leader capable of tackling persistent insecurity and a worsening economy.
He further urged all citizens seeking meaningful change to vote for Makinde in 2027, stressing that the governor has recorded significant accomplishments across multiple sectors.
The event’s highlight was the presentation of a certificate of return to Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde.
