A day like this brings a deep sense of remorse to most Nigerian Youths rather than the real celebration of democracy day
.This perhaps is because the central figure, the iconic personality that laid down his life for Nigeria’s Democracy was a father figure to the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria YSFON
The entire members of the National Executive Council, the National Working Committee, alongside The President of YSFON Dr Nasiru Gawuna, sadly remember but honour the memory and celebrate the life of our late Patron and one-time Pillar of Sports in Nigeria *Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola*(MKO)
MKO as he was fondly called was a great lover of Sports who spent his hard earned resources to develop the Nigerian Youths He created the then famous Abiola Babes Football Club, introduced and Sponsored the now popular *Ramat Cup* one of YSFON’s most important international football programs named in honour of Nigeria’s slain Military Head of State late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.
YSFON is proud to say that besides this, MKO Abiola touched lives
and encouraged Nigerian Youths to be actively engaged in sports and rewarded excellence.
YSFON representatives who excelled in Gothia Cup, Dallas Cup, Kodak Cup and many more were duely rewarded by Abiola
He encouraged healthy rivalry and the sports fraternity was happier for it.It’s on this premise that YSFON exhibits a deep sense of loss.
No matter the odds the organization still mourns him but remain grateful to God for his life
As a philanthropist, a Sports lover and a Democrat, we thank God for MKO Abiola’s life and may God to continue to grant him eternal rest
Twenty-Two years after, Abiola will look back and shake his head, all his legacies and struggles have been destroyed through poor leadership, corruption, greed,absence of genuine interest and lack of patriotism. but only the Almighty Allah can restore our *HOPE*
As we celebrate Democracy day let’s think of the future of our Youths and redirect their minds so that this country will return to the part of Progress
