West African Youths Hold Summit In Nigeria

West African Youth Congress (WAYC) is set to hold West Africa Youths And Students Summit (WAYSS) in Nigeria in August.

The Programme which is holding on 24-28 of August 2021, will witnessed the decoration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the 2021 WAYSS grand commander of youth empowerment and development in

WAYC has also called on their colleagues in the subregion to embrace dialogue in all their demands in order to ensure a peaceful region.

According to the youths, the security challenges in the region can only be tackled through dialogue, calling on all the youths to give peace a chance.

Speaking on Monday during the inauguration of members of the West Africa Youths And Students Summit (WAYSS) holding in Nigeria in August, the Secretary General and head of mission of the WAYC, Ambassador Ahmed Marafa, said member nation of ECOWAS has been facing serious challenges adding that the summit coming in August will change the narrative of the region.

“The young generation must shun actions that will undermine and disturb the peace of our subregion. Actions which will lead to insecurity and further underdevelopment big our nation’s. I urge us at all points to embrace dialogue with our leaders, and not resort to violence and destructions as we have no other home than our individual ECOWAS nations,” he said.

Marafa who said the West Africa Youths and Students Summit will bring peace to the region, disclosed further that they will decorate president Muhammadu Buhari as the 2021 WAYSS grand commander of youth empowerment and development in the Programme holding on 24-28 of August 2021.

According to Marafa, the Programme will be an opportunity for the youth in ECOWAS subregion to network.

“This will be the largest gathering of youths in the subregion. We are expecting 600 participants in Abuja Nigeria and we will translate the Programme in English, Portuguese and French.

The secretary general charged the committee members to work hard for the success of the west Africa youths and students submit.

Responding, Umma Kari Mohammed said it is a project very close to their heart adding that they will ensure the summit is a success.

Also speaking, another member of the committee, Dr Sa’ad Dodo said the summit will bring unity within the region.
