We’ll Continue To Champion Implementation Of Sustainable Community Development Projects -NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has declared that it will continue to champion the implementation of sustainable community development projects that will positively impact the lives of the citizens of the country.

Group General Manager, General Manager of National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), Bala Wunti, made the declaration while speaking at the commissioning of two projects at Idama Community in Akuku-Toru local government area of Rivers State.

The two projects were a 350,000 litre capacity industrial-type world-class portable drinking facility and 1,250KVA power generating set, were executed by the NNPC/Belemaoil Joint Venture.

Wunti, who was represented by Clementina Arubi, stated that the NNPC at it’s partners were socially responsible organizations, who are committed to improving the livelihood of the citizens of our great country, Nigeria.

He said: “NNPC and its partners are socially responsible organizations committed to improving the livelihood of the citizens of our great country, Nigeria.

“NNPC will continue to consistently champion the implementation of sustainable community development projects that will positively impact the lives of the citizens of this country.”

Commissioning the projects, former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was represented by Ambassador Godknows Igali, applauded Belemaoil and it’s joint venture partners for impacting positively on it’s host communities, saying that the gesture should be a model for other companies operating in the Niger Delta region.

He said: “We appreciate the Founder/President of Belemaoil, JV partners, NNPC for considering it necessary to make such an impact in the community. This is a great model for all other companies in communities that are impacted not necessarily adversely.

“Although, it is very adverse but the companies that are operating in the area to continue to show more footprints in terms of their impacts on the local communities, to work with the local communities to bring more succour to their lives and to join in what government at various levels are doing.

“We specially thank Belemaoil and we hope and pray that this will be a model for all other companies. We appreciate the Idama Community for creating the right environment for such intervention and we hope that this will attract more projects to this community.”
