Arrangements have reached advance stage by the Cross River State Government to host a music festival to be called African Music Festival on Valentine day at the state owned leisure resort popularly known as Calas vegas City Calabar.
Calas Vegas, a tourists attraction centre located in the virgin island across the Calabar channel constructed by the professor Ben Ayade’s led administration for fun seekers to go cool thier nerves whenever they were bored probably due to hardwork.
The Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism Development, Mr. Eric Anderson stated this while playing to executive of the Correspondents’ Chapel Calabar, led by the Eme Offiong of Voice of Nigeria VON at weekend.
The Tourism Development Commissioner stated that no new innovation has so far been made in the state’s tourism calendar stressing that the existing events will be sustained.
Anderson maintained that the Calabar carnival will take place this year adding that the carnival being one of the biggest celebration in the state remains the only avenues whereby state government shall use to make the people happy before his tenure winds to end.
In his word Anderson said, “For 2022, we do not intend to create new tourism products because we have sufficient products we need to maintain.
“ This year we are only going to observe the valentine’s day as a new injection and that will be the only injection we will have for this year.
“On the valentine’s day we will have bikers parade, vintage car parade, car stunts, floating restaurant at the water and at night we are going to have an African Music Festival at Calas Vegas.
“There will be a carnival this year and this will be our last festival as a government and of course the government wants to end strong and that is one of the avenues we want to end strong in tourism”.
While giving an insight about the Obudu Cattle Ranch resort, Anderson stated that there has been a lot of improvements stressing that some time in 2021, he had to spend about a week at the ranch to oversee the facility upgrade which was carried out by the state government.
On Qua falls, the commissioner maintained that the tourists attraction centre has also been renovated to a certain standard stressing that all the rails down has been fixed with another route created down in a manner that that tourists can have clear view of the water without any hitch.
