US Based Association Provides Succour To Taraba Less Privileged

A humanitarian association based in the United States Of America (US)(Zumunta), in collaboration with the Women of Valour Initiative for Development and Empowerment (WOVAIDE) in Taraba State have donated relief items to less privileged people in Taraba.

Speaking at the event Mrs Sarah David Ibi, leader of the associations while making the donation on Friday at the NUT house Jalingo, disclosed that the idea was to lessen the hardship being undergone by less privileged ones in the state.

While addressing the beneficiaries, Mrs Ibi challenged them to create a chain through which the associations believe many others could benefit. She also disclosed that the beneficiaries were selected randomly, devoid of sentiment or preferential treatment.

According to her, “the gesture was the two collaborating Unions deliberate efforts to intervene in life challenging situations of less privileged persons who are either physically challenged or otherwise to build hope for a United society”.

During the event, the President, National Council for Women Society (NCWS), Taraba State Chapter, Mrs Punariman Daniel Atenji, and the Deputy Chairman Board of Trustee for (WOVAIDE), Prof. Etemi Joshua Garba, expressed that the Union’s humanitarian approach was worthy of emulation.

They lamented the life challenges of the less privileged people as worsened by the economic hardship in the country, encouraged well meaning organizations, groups or associations as well as individuals to always have their budgets inclusive of supporting the less privileged.

Some of the items donated were wheel chairs, sewing machines, bags of rice packets of seasoning maggi, pressure cooker and kegs of palm oil.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our correspondent are Mr. Fidelis Akaayaa and Miss Hanatu Adam, they appreciated the association for their human Hart’s to support the less privileged in Taraba.
