Updated: Jacob Zango Emerges Kaduna SWAN Chairman

A veteran sport journalist with the Kaduna State media corporation, Mr Jacob Zango, has emerged as the chairman of the state Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
Umar Abdulhamid was also elected Deputy Chairman, Abdulwaheed Olayinka Adubi, Secretary, Mayem Akon Etim, Deputy Secretary, Zainab Tanimu, Treasurer and Gbenga Abiola, Financial Secretary.
After overcoming so many crisis in the wake of the election, Elanza News reports that the inclusion of women in the exco is being applauded.
The exco took their oath of office today which was administered by Ibrahim Maji Esq.
Maji charged the newly elected officials to uphold the true allegiance to SWAN and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The new chairman, Jacob Zango, promised to reposition SWAN.
He called on all members to be more dedicated and focused adding that, “our focus is to ensure that Kaduna SWAN and other relevant stakeholders are operating on the same page for the betterment of the industry.”
Meanwhile, the National body of SWAN have reacted to the purported SWAN Elections, New Executive in Kaduna state, urging the public to disregard it.
 A statement issued by the Secretary General of the association, Jude Opara, the body said Isaiah Benjamin remains the Chairman and leader of SWAN in
Kaduna State, just as Jacob Onjewu Dickson is the Secretary of the
chapter alongside other State Executive Committee (SWC) members.
“The attention of the National Secretariat of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has been drawn to a purported elections by some persons and the emergence of a new executive for our Kaduna State chapter.
“The National Secretariat wants to inform SWAN members in Kaduna
and the general public to disregard any such exercise and exco.
“That Isaiah Benjamin remains the Chairman and leader of SWAN in
Kaduna State, just as Jacob Onjewu Dickson is the Secretary of the
chapter alongside other State Executive Committee (SWC) members.
“We urge our members in Kaduna to be law abiding as appropriate
measures have been put in place to check any form of illegality or
threat to the Statute or integrity of SWAN,” the statement added.
Elanza News gathered that a Magistrate Court in Barnawa has summoned the new puported leaders of SWAN to appear before it tomorrow.
It was gathered that the summoned followed a suit filed by the National body of SWAN, urging the court to stop the new executives from using their logo.
They are also asking the court to stop the new officials from parading themselves as SWAN officials in the state.
