Troops Neutralise 89 Bandits, Rescue 5 Kidnap Victims,Recover Weapons In Zamfara

Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji has neutralised 89 bandits, rescued five Kidnap victims and recovered large cache of weapons in Zamfara State.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations Major General John Enenche said the feat was achieved by troops of Sector 9 operation Hadarin Daji in collaboration with troops of 35 Battalion and Quick Response Group of 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, two helicopter gun ships of the Nigerian Air Force, personnel of Nigeria Police Force.

He said the troops during the encounter on 24 April 2020 neutralised 89 bandits, recover arms and ammunition along Gidan Jaja in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
He added that the five Kidnap victims comprise three females and two males.

Items recovered include: 19 AK 47 rifles, one PKT machine gun,nine magazines, 167 rounds of 7.62 (Special), one dane gun and one locally made pistol.

He said while there was no loss on the part of national troops, they also recovered 322 rustled cows, 77 motorcycles and 9 cell phones.

He stated that a formal handover of the kidnapped victims and rustled cows will be carried out following due process.
