The administration of President Bola Tinubu has allocated ₦25 billion to healthcare initiatives within the 2025 capital budget for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This announcement was made by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom WikeNyesom Wike, during the inauguration of the construction of Arterial Road N1, which connects Wuye District to Ring Road II in Abuja on Thursday.
Wike addressed concerns regarding the perceived neglect of various sectors in the FCT’s development, emphasizing that no area is overlooked. He firmly rejected criticism and threats of protests related to this issue, asserting that such actions would not hinder the Tinubu administration’s goals.
“Nobody will blackmail me. No one will derail my commitment to what I believe is right. Enough is enough,” Wike stated. “They may oppose me, but I am fully prepared for that. I will ensure we do things correctly because the President is dedicated to transforming Abuja.”
Critics have accused the minister of favoring road infrastructure over other essential sectors. In response, Wike clarified that the road projects are aimed at enhancing the economic growth and welfare of the residents, not for personal benefit. “This road is not for me or the Minister; it is for the people of Abuja. Once we complete these roads, Abuja will stand shoulder to shoulder with other global cities,” he asserted.
Earlier in the event, Nancy Nathan, the acting head of service of the FCTA, praised Wike for his visionary leadership and relentless efforts to modernize the FCT’s infrastructure, also commending President Tinubu for his strategic focus.
The inauguration was attended by government officials, contractors, community leaders, and local residents, all of whom expressed the importance of completing the project on time.
