Taxi Driver Kills Passenger Over N50

A taxi driver have staved a passenger he picked from Zuba to Gwagwalada during an argument over N50.
An eyes witness told Elanza News that the incident occurred at around 1pm on Friday, April 22, 2022.
He said that the taxi driver and the passenger had a heated argument over 50 naira transport fair difference which resulted in the death of the passenger.
This medium gathered that the cause of their argument was because the driver intended to collect N250 naira from the passenger as transport fair when the amount usually charge is between N200 and N250 from Zuba to Gwagwalada.
The inconsistency in the fair price, Elanza News reports is as a result of the unstable fuel prices.
The eyewitness said they overheard the passenger telling the driver: “I only have N200 to give you. I’ve told you i have N200 before boarding your vehicle.”
But the statement of the passenger did not go down well with the driver who insisted he must collect N250 from the victim.
The eyewitness added that the driver in the process of the argument, hijacked the passenger by the throat which led to a serious exchange of blow.
“The passenger overpowered the driver who immediately rushed to his car, brought out knife and stabbed the passenger indiscriminately until he fell on the ground lifeless,” the eyes witness said adding that the driver was bragging that he came from Maiduguri, Borno State.
It was also learnt that the driver left the body of the victim on the ground and drove off on a broad day light.
Before Police could get to the scene of the incident, the eyewitness, the driver was no where to be found.
However, the body of the victim has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for further investigation.
Efforts to speak with the DPO of Gwagwalada Police Division was abortive as at the time of filing this report.
