The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter has described the sudden demise of the Chairman, Kaduna State Handball Association, Malam Abubakar Ahmed as not only shocking but painful.
Kaduna SWAN expressed this in a statement signed by its Secretary, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, dated April 17, 2020.
“We received with deep shock the news of the demise of the Chairman, Kaduna State Handball Association, Malam Abubakar Ahmed.
“It is saddening and a huge loss not just to his family, employers and Immediate friends, but for the sports family not just in Kaduna State, but the entire Nigeria,” it said.
SWAN said that since he came on board as Chairman of Kaduna Handball Association, a lot of positive changes were witnessed.
“He has made a lot of sacrifices to the sports community. He would be greatly missed,” it said.
SWAN extended condolences to his wife, children, brothers, sisters, and mother, who he left behind.
“We pray for the repose of his soul. Our condolences to the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development, his immediate and extended families and all who knew him.
“He was a rare gem and will always be on the right side of history,” it concluded.
It would be recalled that the news of his demise was broken by his brother, who wrote:
“Inna lillahi wa’inna ilaihi raji’un. The death of a friend and a brother Mallam Abubakar Ahmed was announced few minutes ago after a brief illness.
“He left behind his Mother, wife and children Bothers and Sisters. May Almighty Allah gives the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, forgive his trespasses, grant him eternal rest and, make Jannatul firdaus his final place of abode. Ameen.”
